When I was first introduced to psychedelic therapies years ago, I was struck by the deep transformative potential of these substances. Now, as a certified psychedelic guide, I have the privilege of supporting people on their journeys. In this blog, I want to take you behind the scenes and show you how I experience my work. I will cite several recent reviews and clarify what is important to me when guiding a session.
With every client, I start by listening. Good preparation is crucial to me. We always hold a thorough intake interview in which we discuss goals, frame expectations, and explore any fears. In a recent review, a client describes how we scheduled a Zoom call together to clarify her intentions. After two previous group sessions, she opted for a private MDMA session with me and felt “safe, supported and taken care of” during the session” (Link to review). That safety is the foundation for me; if you don't feel safe, you can't let go.
Another client, who later shared her experience in the review Wonderful support, described that my warm, empathetic attitude made it easy for her to build trust. She explicitly sought a Trip therapy embedded in counseling so that the insights could be integrated. That trust is mutual; I am fully present during the session and attune to what you need. (Link to review).
Many people fear losing control during a psychedelic session. I understand that fear and therefore pay attention to preparation, breathing exercises, and becoming familiar with your own body. In the review A very special experience Rosa told how she was initially startled when the MDMA started to take effect and thought: “Oh, but do I actually want this? Can I still turn back?” (Link to review). By reassuring her and helping her with breathing and focus, she was eventually able to surrender completely and discovered that it was a beautiful experience.
When emotions are released, I am there to give them space without judgment. In Life-changing experience A client writes that after years of conventional therapy, she was finally able to let go of emotional blockages with MDMA. She describes how previous physical complaints almost disappeared and calls the sessions “life changing”.” (Link to review). As a guide, I see how sadness, joy, fear, and relief can alternate. My task is to respect this process and ensure that you feel safe enough to experience everything.
The real work often only begins after the music has stopped and the eyes open again. In the psilocybin session described in After years of depression, I am starting to get hope again! KM says that her trip brought her not only temporary peace but also long-lasting changes. She felt mentally “10 kilos lighter” and noticed that the effect was still present weeks later. (Link to review). We discussed in detail how she could integrate the insights into her daily life and how important self-care is in the days following a session.
Another example is Kasia, who describes in her private journey that she gained new insights and life-changing realizations days after the MDMA session. She emphasizes that this is not solely due to the substance, but also to the integration conversations and my support. (Link to review).
Psychedelic therapy is not a solo endeavor. I regularly collaborate with colleagues such as Janneke and Marcel to facilitate group sessions. In Life blossoms – 5 weeks after my hippie flip trip in a MDMA group session Magdalena praises the atmosphere that my colleague Janneke and I created together. She felt 100 % safe and fully accepted (Link to review). That trust in the team makes it possible for me to focus on each participant while still monitoring the entire group.
BV1 also emphasizes in the review MDMA experience with Reineke and Marcel how healing it was to work with two facilitators. She experienced an intense “here and now” sense and describes our guidance as cared for, supported, and protected. (Link to review). It is our intention to provide both physical comfort and psychological and energetic support. To this end, we have clear roles within the team so that you can fully focus on your process.
Many clients come to us because they have been struggling with trauma or depression for years. In MDMA trip with Reineke Karsten says that his trip was about depression and trauma. He found it “a wonderful experience” and felt that, thanks to the session, he found what was missing in his life. (Link to review). Testimonials like that touch me; they show that psychedelic sessions, if properly guided, can bring life-changing insights.
In her psilocybin report, KM provides a detailed overview of the physical sensations after the session: loss of time, strange sleep, no hunger or thirst, but also mild headache and tingling sensations. (Link to review). She describes feeling hope again after years of depression. (Link to review). Such experiences remind me how important it is to also provide aftercare: resting, eating well, using supplements like GABA and paracetamol, and taking the day off. (Link to review).
There are moments when the gratitude of clients moves me. BV3 thanks me and my team for the “incredible guidance” during a truffle ceremony. (Link to review). She appreciates that our care is not only physical (food, drink) but also psychological and energetic. Such words give me energy and confirm that we are on the right track.
Even the short “thank you” messages mean a lot. After his MDMA trip, Karsten simply wrote “Thank you!” (Link to review). Vanessa responded to the BV1 review confirming that she was also at the ceremony and that these sessions are valuable. (Link to review). Such reports show that psychedelic therapy not only affects the individual participant but also has an impact on a larger network of family and friends.
Every session is different; every person comes with their own story, pain, and desire. What connects all these stories is the power of openness and trust. I feel humbled and grateful to be a witness to such profound human processes and to be able, together with my colleagues, to offer the space in which transformation is possible.
Looking back on the past years, I see how clients struggling with trauma, anxiety, burnout, or depression found light and hope again through MDMA or psilocybin therapy. Whether it involves healing family bonds, discovering self-love, or letting go of old patterns—I am touched by every journey.
