Psychedelic drug therapy
Psychedelic therapy with psychedelic drugs is a globally emerging approach to psychotherapy that focuses on the use of psychedelic substances such as psilocybin, LSD and MDMA to treat psychological and emotional problems. Although this therapy is still in the early stages of development, promising results have already been achieved in clinical trials. In addition to these studies, psychedelic sessions have been available in the Netherlands for many years, and Dutch providers, including Triptherapie, have the most experience.
An important feature of psychedelic drug therapy is that it is conducted under the guidance of professionals, who ensure that the patient feels safe and comfortable during the session. This can make the use of psychedelic substances much safer than when done on one's own initiative.
The goal of psychedelic drug therapy is to help the patient discover new perspectives and insights about themselves and life. The psychedelic experience can expand consciousness, alter the perception of time and space, amplify emotions, and strengthen the sense of connection with others and the world around us. When these properties of a psychedelic session are used to one's advantage, psychedelic sessions can feel like years of therapy.
