Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a condition characterised by compulsive thoughts (obsessions) and compulsive actions (compulsions). Although the exact causes of OCD are not really known yet, I suspect that trauma plays an important role in the development of the disorder.
The role of trauma
Experiencing traumatic events can increase the likelihood of developing OCD. It seems to be especially the case when this trauma occurred in childhood. It can also develop later. Trauma flattened is nothing more than an unprocessed, still fixed emotion in the body. A moment in which a person completely lost control. This can range from serious events like sexual abuse, mistreatment both physical and mental to less intense experiences like the death of a pet.
Trauma involving complete loss of control can lead to feelings of insecurity, insecurity and anxiety. My take on this is that people try to take back the lost control in an awkward, non-constructive way. So this can lead to people developing compulsive thoughts and actions as a way of controlling these feelings. It thereby returns a sense of control and security. Compulsive thoughts are recurrent, persistent thoughts or images that cause fear, anxiety and a sense of insecurity, while compulsive actions are actions done to actually reduce this fear.
It seems to work for a while. Until it gets in the way after a while. However, the compulsive thoughts and actions have progressed to the point where it is very difficult to let them go again. Taking back control in the right areas of life is severely hampered in this.
It is important to seek timely help from a psychologist or therapist who specialises in OCD and trauma. Treatments such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) can be effective in reducing OCD symptoms by addressing underlying traumatic experiences and developing coping strategies.
Through a session with MDMA it is possible that the OCD may be reduced by addressing the trauma. This can be a nice complement to treatments already underway. Our team consists of several professionals who have developed years of experience in these areas.
It is also possible to start focusing on other things like nutrition, exercise, different mindset through the lifestyle plan which is drawn up personally for everyone. Such as adding amino acids to a diet.
By shifting this focus, you take back control in parts of your life that do work constructively and you can develop a sense of regaining some air and space.
