Can you microdose with truffles if you take Fluanxol? And what if you want to take a high macrodose of psilocybin?

Fluanxol (active ingredient: flupentixol) belongs to the antipsychotics. These medications have an inhibitory effect on both dopamine and serotonin receptors, including the 5-HT2A receptor which is precisely essential for the effect of psilocybin (from truffles).

This has two important consequences:

  1. Microdosing with truffles while using Fluanxol
With classic microdosing (for example, 0.5 to 1 gram of fresh truffles), there will usually be little to no noticeable effect, because Fluanxol typically blocks the psychedelic action. However, there are cases where a slightly higher microdose just above the threshold can produce mild effects. This remains subtle, however, and varies greatly from person to person. It is important to always do this carefully and under supervision, as overdosing can lead to unexpected or unwanted effects.

  2. A high macrodose of psilocybin
Even at a high dose of psilocybin, the effect is usually largely dampened by Fluanxol. Where you would normally expect strong psychedelic effects, the experience often remains weakened or even almost completely absent. Additionally, you should consider whether the use of Fluanxol is intended to prevent psychosis; in that case, it is better not to use psychedelics.

Therefore, at Triptherapie, a complete psilocybin session not recommended while you are using Fluanxol. Only when this medication has been carefully tapered off under your doctor's supervision can a session be meaningful and safe. Microdosing might be possible, but perhaps useless.

In summary:

  • Microdosing under FluanxolStandard microdoses often don't work, but a slightly higher threshold dose might make something noticeable.
  • Macrodoses of psilocybin: severely blocked and medically hazardous during Fluanxol use.
  • Advice: only consider after safely tapering off the medication, always in consultation with your doctor.

When someone uses Fluanxol and is simultaneously interested in microdosing or taking a high dose of psilocybin, it is important to fully understand what happens pharmacologically and what consequences this can have. Fluanxol belongs to the antipsychotics and blocks, among other things, the 5-HT2A receptors, whereas psilocybin exerts its psychedelic and therapeutic effects precisely through the activation of those same receptors. This means that these substances directly counteract each other.

Microdosing truffles while using Fluanxol

Microdosing usually involves very small amounts of psilocybin, often with the goal of experiencing subtle improvements in mood, concentration, or creativity. Under the influence of Fluanxol, most of these effects are hardly noticeable. Even at a low daily dose of Fluanxol (0.5–2 mg), receptor blockade is already sufficient to largely neutralize the effects of psilocybin. This means that a microdose often “does nothing,” or is at most only slightly noticeable. It is generally not dangerous, but it also has no meaningful therapeutic value as long as Fluanxol is present.

High dose of psilocybin during use of Fluanxol

With a macrodose – for example, 20 to 40 grams of truffles or a comparable psilocybin dose – one normally expects a profound trip involving visuals, introspection, and emotional processing. In combination with Fluanxol, that experience is intensified. flattened or even completely blocked.

  1. At a low dose Fluanxol Some effect may still come through, but often without the typical depth and insights. Sometimes an incomplete or confused experience remains, in which fear or unease may actually come more strongly to the forefront.

  2. At medium doses of Fluanxol (3–10 mg per day) there is a high chance that psilocybin will have little effect, except perhaps for physical symptoms such as nausea or mild pupil dilation.

  3. At high doses or depot injections (10–20 mg or more) the effect is almost completely blocked. Even with enormous amounts of psilocybin, the trip will largely fail to occur. This can lead to someone taking increasingly larger doses in the hope of still getting an effect, which is risky because a chaotic, unpleasant, or psychiatrically disruptive effect may then break through.

Risks and hazards of the combination

Besides the fact that Fluanxol dampens the psychedelic effects, there are also risks associated with this combination:

  1. Psychiatric instability: People who use Fluanxol often have a psychotic or mood-sensitive vulnerability. Psilocybin can, in such cases, be a psychosis or manic episode provoke, especially if someone starts experimenting with medication.

  2. Unpredictable experiences: Because the trip does not fully come through, the positive aspects may fail to materialize, and fear, confusion, or disappointment may instead predominate.

  3. Compensatory behavior: Some people take increasingly higher doses of psilocybin to “break through the blockade”. This can lead to extremely high intake and unexpected, often unpleasant effects.

  4. Little therapeutic benefit: Precisely because Fluanxol blocks the core action of psilocybin, there is little chance that someone will experience the insights, emotional breakthrough, or spiritual depth that truffles are normally known for.

Conclusion

Fluanxol and psilocybin are essentially polar opposites. When microdosing, Fluanxol will largely neutralize the subtle effects, rendering it virtually pointless. At a high dose of psilocybin, the trip is severely flattened or blocked, with the risk that only an unpleasant or confusing experience remains. Additionally, there are clear dangers for people using Fluanxol due to a psychiatric disorder: in that context, psilocybin can actually trigger dysregulation or psychosis.

Anyone who uses Fluanxol and is still interested in microdosing or psychedelic therapy would be wise to Always to be discussed with the treating psychiatrist or doctor.. Experimenting on your own is discouraged, as the chance of disappointment is high and the risks are significant.
