Has it ever happened that someone took a dangerous amount of psilocybin at a truffle ceremony? Does an overdose ever occur?

The use of psilocybin is generally considered safe, especially if someone is not taking medication and is healthy. The risk of a psilocybin overdose is very low, as the toxicity of this substance is considered minimal. Studies suggest that a lethal dose of psilocybin is at least 1,000 times the effective dose, which offers a significant safety margin. In other words, someone would have to consume something like 30 kg of truffles, and that is simply impossible. At our truffle ceremonies, it has never happened that someone has actually used too much psilocybin.

However, cases have been reported online in which people have ingested extreme amounts of psilocybin, often in combination with other substances or without proper guidance. This can lead to problems.

In a professional setting, such as a truffle ceremony organized by Triptherapie, participants are carefully guided and attention is paid to the correct dosage. This helps to minimize risks and ensures that the experience is as safe and therapeutic as possible. We also ask all participants to complete an intake form prior to the ceremony so that any contraindications can be assessed and the appropriate guidance and dosage can be provided.
