How do you conduct the integration sessions after truffle ceremonies?

There are three moments when the integration sessions can take place after a truffle ceremony or other psychedelic sessions with, for example, truffles, MDMA, ayahuasca, or LSD. These are the integration moments:

  1. The day itselfThe first integration conversation can already take place on the day of the session while sobering up. What happened during the psychedelic ceremony can be discussed and (partially) integrated into daily life. Not everyone is able to talk well about the experience on the day itself.
  2. Telephone integration sessionThe telephone integration session is included and is scheduled as soon as the truffle ceremony participant indicates they are ready to do it. This is because it can sometimes take several days to weeks for a psychedelic experience to be processed sufficiently for talking about it to be beneficial.
  3. Special integration days: Since 2024, we have been organizing integration days for psychedelic trips for our own clients and for other interested parties.During this gathering, we build strong connections and safety within the group. Here, we create a space where you can share your experiences, surrounded by people who understand you and guided by therapists who know what you are going through. Experience the powerful effect of active group involvement, where we focus on your personal (and group) themes and goals. We organize two interactive constellations in which everyone is actively involved and works purposefully on their individual healing process. The therapists use IFS and psychodrama to process insights.

Integrating psychedelic experiences can help. IFS plays a role in these integration sessions, among other things. Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a psychotherapeutic approach that focuses on understanding and integrating the different parts of ourselves. This method can be particularly valuable for integrating psychedelic experiences, such as those with psilocybin, for various reasons.

1. Identification of internal partsIFS posits that we all have different 'parts' or subpersonalities that represent different emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. During a psychedelic experience, people can connect with these different parts of themselves, which can lead to deeper insights and self-reflection. IFS helps individuals identify and understand these parts, which is crucial for integration.

2. Creating a safe space: IFS offers a safe and supportive environment in which individuals can explore their experiences. This is especially important after a psychedelic session, where intense emotions and insights may surface. Through IFS techniques, people can learn to manage these emotions and integrate them into their daily lives.

3. Emotional processingPsychedelic experiences can evoke intense emotional reactions. IFS helps process these emotions by encouraging individuals to communicate with their different parts. This can lead to a better understanding of the underlying causes of these emotions and can help reframe experiences.

4. Connection with the SelfIFS emphasizes the importance of the 'Self,' which represents the core of who we are, often characterized by qualities such as compassion, curiosity, and wisdom. During psychedelic experiences, people can experience a sense of connection with their Self. IFS helps them strengthen and maintain this connection, which is essential for successful integration.

5. Support with behavioral changeOne of the most important goals of integration is bringing about positive changes in life after a psychedelic experience. IFS can help individuals identify and transform limiting beliefs and destructive behavioral patterns. By understanding the different parts of themselves, people can develop more effective strategies to implement these changes.
