Can magic mushrooms/truffles be taken with dipiperon?
Dipiperon is a medication belonging to the group of antipsychotics. The active ingredient in dipiperon is pipamperone. Dipiperon blocks dopamine D2 receptors in the brain, thereby reducing dopamine activity. This can help reduce the symptoms of psychotic disorders and normalize dopamine-related overactivity in the brain. Furthermore, dipiperon has an inhibitory effect on serotonin receptors in the brain. Dipiperon blocks the 5-HT2A receptor. This means that it can reduce serotonin activity. This can lead to a decrease in serotonin signaling in the brain. This can affect mood, behavior, and other functions regulated by serotonin.
When combining dipiperon with psilocybin from truffles, the inhibition of dopamine activity will theoretically not cause any direct interaction or problems. On the other hand, the inhibitory effects of dipiperon on the serotonergic system cause the suppression or even absence of the psychedelic effects of psilocybin.
In addition to the fact that psilocybin works little to none in combination with Dipiperon, it is also not yet clear whether combining them is safe.
