Do you need to stay fasting for a truffle ceremony, or can you eat something light?

For a truffle ceremony, it is advisable to remain sober for a few hours beforehand on the day itself, as this positively influences both the physical experience and the intensity of the psychedelic effects. Truffles are absorbed better on an empty stomach, leading to a faster and more even effect. You also reduce the risk of nausea and vomiting if you stop eating a few hours before the psychedelic session.

However, this does not mean that you cannot eat anything at all. It is perfectly fine to eat something light, such as a piece of fruit, when you notice that you are starting to feel faint. Especially at a morning ceremony, it makes sense that you would otherwise go without food for a very long time. For people with blood sugar fluctuations, such as those with diabetes, complex carbohydrates like oatmeal are a good choice.

In short, it is best not to eat anything for 4 hours before the start of the truffle ceremony. If you need something light to feel good, choose easily digestible food such as some fruit. This ensures a balance between physical comfort and optimal absorption of the active substances during the ceremony.

It is best to stop eating about 4 hours before using psychedelics, such as truffles, LSD, or MDMA. If the session is early in the morning, this may mean staying sober and only eating after the ceremony. For people who struggle with not eating for extended periods, the solution is to eat something light, such as fruit. For people with diabetes, oatmeal or other complex carbohydrates can be a good option.
