Psychedelic therapy in Belgium

Psychedelic therapy is currently not permitted in Belgium, and we expect Belgium to remain conservative and maintain the ban for at least another few years. Meanwhile, research into the positive effects of psychedelics on the psyche continues, primarily in the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands. Due to various reports in the Belgian media, particularly regarding magic truffles and magic mushrooms (active substance psilocybin --> psilocin), legalization in Belgium may begin sooner than expected.

Many truffle sessions and ceremonies for Belgians

Recently, there has been a relatively large amount of media attention in Belgium regarding the healing effects of psilocybin. Especially after Selah Sue's story, many Belgians are coming from Belgium to the Netherlands for psychedelic ceremonies, as it is illegal in Belgium. Another factor is, of course, that we in the Netherlands have had much longer experience with the use of these psychedelic substances. Through our clients, we regularly hear that doctors in Belgium suggest our services 'off the record' as an alternative to regular care that is often inadequate. In the first quarter of 2022, approximately half of our clients came from Belgium!

Most Belgian clients come to the Netherlands in small groups of 2-4 people and use our Psychedelic Loft space in Schiedam. They stay overnight in Schiedam after the session before returning home.

Open truffle ceremony

It is also possible to participate in an open truffle ceremony. In an open truffle ceremony, the group is not closed and there are a maximum of 5 other participants present. It is good to consider what you personally feel comfortable with. Some clients find connecting with strangers an advantage, while others prefer more privacy and personal attention.

Suggest a location yourself

We also come to locations within the Dutch borders. It is therefore possible to rent a holiday home, Airbnb, or hotel room and hold the session there. This way, you can see for yourself if there is a particular place that suits you well.

Other countries

No matter where you come from, you are of course welcome. The spoken languages are Dutch and English. If you do not speak these languages, you may bring your own interpreter. We also recommend reserving the day after the session as a recovery day, and if this is the day of your return flight, please ensure that the flight is not too early or postpone the return flight by a day.
