Are there therapists who have completed training to work with psychedelics during therapy? And is this training recognized?
There are a number of training courses to learn the basics of working with psychedelics, but none is considered a medically recognized program that would allow you to offer care reimbursed by health insurers in the future. This is because psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy is still in its early stages, and health insurers do not yet have a set of requirements for this form of care. Only when psychedelics are admitted as a recognized medicine or form of treatment within mainstream mental healthcare will official training criteria and quality frameworks be established that lead to recognized specializations. Until then, current training courses are primarily intended for knowledge building, professional development, and preparation for future developments, but they do not yet offer formal authorization or a guarantee of reimbursement.
Nevertheless, there are already several training programs with a clear structure, scientific substantiation, and accreditation points for healthcare providers registered with the BIG. Examples include courses at RINO, Medische Scholing, and international programs such as ADEPT by the OPEN Foundation. These programs focus primarily on theoretical knowledge, ethics, session preparation and integration, and in some cases, supervised experiential training. Although they do not yet qualify as official medical specializations, they may give professionals a head start once psychedelic therapy becomes regularly recognized and reimbursable in the future.
| Education / Course | Contents | Recognition/accreditation |

| Experiential Training Institute (ETI) | Experience & theory with professional guidance | BIG therapists, knowledgeable in the field, no formal diplomas |
| Inwardbound Institute | Online & immersion, preparation for practice | Not regulated or recognized for the Netherlands |

At Triptherapie, several therapists work who have completed these types of training in addition to Triptherapie's internal training and onboarding procedure. The therapists at Triptherapie who the RINO training 'Therapeutic work with psychedelics'' have completed Ronald, Sascha and Reineke.
The RINO training is accredited for re-registration with various professional registers (such as FGzPt, NVP, and VSR), and also covers contraindications, legal frameworks, and practical guidance experience through, among other things, a two-day truffle retreat.
Furthermore, we are currently onboarding a therapist who was trained in the United States to be permitted to work with psychedelics in psychotherapy there. In this way, within Triptherapie, we are increasingly bringing therapists into our team who are highly trained *and* have completed additional training to work with psychedelics as effectively as possible. This, combined with our very high level of experience and holistic approach—in which we combine nutrition, lifestyle, supplements, preparation, and integration with the psychedelic experience—ensures that we not only guide clients safely but can also support their maximum therapeutic and personal growth.
