[Solved] Why a day of integration immediately after a truffle ceremony?

For many, an integration day immediately following a truffle ceremony is a very welcome part of the therapeutic process surrounding psychedelic-induced trips. Without integration, a psychedelic session can be impressive and helpful, but with proper integration, you can often achieve more.

During a truffle ceremony, your brain temporarily becomes more flexible. Old patterns become less dominant and new perspectives become possible. That is precisely why a  truffle ceremony can be so powerful. But precisely in the first 24 hours afterward, your system is still open, sensitive, and plastic. What you do then largely determines whether insights stick or fade away.

So why next-day integration?

1. Your nervous system is still “open”
   After psilocybin, there is often increased neuroplasticity. This means that new insights can be more easily anchored in behavior and beliefs. If you wait weeks, that window largely closes.

2. Emotions are still accessible
   What was touched upon during the ceremony—grief, anger, self-compassion, existential insights—is still close to the surface. On an integration day, you can safely deepen and regulate these emotions instead of suppressing them again.

3. Translation to everyday life
   Many people experience clarity during the ceremony such as: “I need to guard my boundaries better” or “I am not living in alignment with my values.” Without concrete anchoring, this remains abstract. During an integration day, methods such as IFS, body-oriented exercises, and ACT are used to translate this into practical steps.

4. Preventing post-trip confusion
   Some participants feel temporarily disoriented or empty after an intense experience. By immediately reflecting, sharing, and structuring together, you prevent insights from floating around chaotically.

Individual truffle ceremonies include a small sharing circle and light integration, as well as an integration conversation by phone.
