What is MDMA group therapy?
MDMA group therapy is a form of therapy in which multiple people participate in a session with MDMA simultaneously. During this MDMA ceremony, participants are guided by experienced therapists who specialize in working with psychedelics. The group session is the environment in which participants have the opportunity to explore profound emotional and spiritual experiences.
At the beginning and end of the session, participants are encouraged to share their experiences and communicate with each other. Sharing is never mandatory, but it can offer benefits. Specifically, it can help strengthen mutual connection and the sense of understanding and support. The therapists ensure that the session proceeds safely and in a structured manner, guiding participants in exploring their emotions, thoughts, and memories.
MDMA group therapy can be effective in the treatment of various mental health conditions, such as PTSD, anxiety disorders, and depression. It can help reduce anxiety, increase empathy, and promote personal growth and self-insight. Sharing experiences with others in the group can also contribute to a sense of belonging and the feeling that one is not alone in their struggles.
In the Netherlands, these MDMA group sessions may only take place on non-medical grounds and with legal analogs of MDMA.
