Does psilocybin work for rheumatoid arthritis?

Recent research suggests that psilocybin may have anti-inflammatory properties and can help reduce inflammatory responses in the body. Although more research is needed to understand the full effects of psilocybin on arthritis, there are some promising results pointing to a potential positive effect.

The study demonstrated that psilocybin can reduce the production of inflammatory markers such as TNF-α, IL-6, and CRP. These markers are involved in inflammatory processes in the body, including arthritis. Furthermore, it was observed that the decrease in IL-6 and CRP levels after one week was associated with improved mood and social behavior.

Although these findings are promising, it is important to note that psilocybin is still in the research phase and is not recommended as a standard treatment for arthritis. Psilocybin is also not the only treatment option for arthritis. There are other conventional treatments available, such as medication, physical therapy, and lifestyle modifications, which can be effective in managing inflammatory responses and reducing arthritis symptoms.

@marcel

I am a person with a rare form of arthritis (1:100,000) and I am very fascinated by this. My experience somewhat supports the theory that psilocybin can help with arthritis. Semi-regular consumption of psilocybin helped my condition and led to remission. So I would definitely recommend magic mushrooms or truffles (if legal and safe) to cure mental and physical illnesses (not all of them, of course).

Yes, psilocybin may potentially help with rheumatoid arthritis thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties. Research has shown that psilocybin can reduce the production of key inflammatory markers such as TNF-α, IL-6, and CRP. These substances are directly involved in the inflammatory processes characteristic of autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis.

On this page about psilocybin and inflammation This mechanism is discussed in detail. Psilocybin appears not only to have an anti-inflammatory effect but also to have a positive effect on the brain, for example by reducing glutamate in the hippocampus. This can contribute to better emotional balance and stress reduction, which in turn also influences inflammation levels.

Some people even claim that after regular use of psilocybin, they can go into remission of a rare form of arthritis. While this is not scientific proof, it does underscore the potential of psilocybin as an adjunctive treatment.
