Never before have so many people been gloomy, downcast, or depressed as they are now. The Coronavirus made matters worse over the past year. Looking at the state of the Earth, one can clearly see that the Earth's nature has been brought into crisis primarily by human actions. In this blog, we attempt to find the connections between the many cases of depression, the state of the Earth, and what contentment and connectedness can do to help people and thereby positively influence the state of the Earth.
As humans, we do not readily see the fact that the world and nature are struggling increasingly; after all, we cannot see our nails grow. We are blind to the slow effects that we, as a species, exert on the climate and the environment. Perhaps we need a time-lapse to see the extent of the changes. The changes over an entire human lifetime are clearly visible. A beautiful documentary on this subject can be seen on Netflix and is titled

A number of factors play a role here. Let's start with the following question: "You could burn 1% of all oxygen to mine Bitcoin with the released energy, making you the richest person on Earth; would you do that?" The answer to this question is often 'yes'. Now, what if we presented this possibility to a million people? Do you see the parallels with what we are currently doing? All wealth currently comes directly or indirectly from nature and its consumption. The richer you are, the greater the share you take from the health of the Earth. The downside of current society is that individualism and personal goals/growth are rewarded. It is, as it were, a rat race towards the destruction of the collective in order to supposedly have better chances of survival for oneself. Aside from individualism, the current economic system, which works by shifting debts to future generations, ensures that we need population growth. Without population growth, the economic house of cards collapses. Our economic system is an inflationary pyramid scheme based on population numbers. Society and the economic system have hacked humanity and play on fear and dissatisfaction. There is always something better that you supposedly need to be happy. All successful companies capitalize on that personal reward system, from which we constantly need a new shot. This creates a spiral of wanting more and more and experiencing less and less satisfaction. Furthermore, the desire to possess things creates a separation between the individual and the rest because the ego grows stronger. Every time you get a shot of dopamine when you think you have achieved a personal goal, it will never provide true happiness. We will start taking more and more for ourselves.
The fact that we see ourselves as something different from the rest of the universe is useful for the existence of our code, our DNA. It is therefore a convenient illusion, which is why it is incorporated into our DNA code. It allows us to survive as individuals. If the illusion that we are different from the rest of everything becomes too great, the drive for personal gain, loneliness, anxieties, and depression arise. It is precisely connectedness to the whole that can make our lives more beautiful, while also allowing us to take better care of the world around us. The following video provides information on what the difference might be between separation and connectedness with our environment.
Dopamine plays a role in addictions such as gambling, alcohol, cocaine, and therefore also in everything related to personal gain. The need for too much dopamine, both globally and personally, leads to self-destruction, climate change, poverty, isolation, and depression. The urge for more is therefore dissatisfaction. True happiness is based on contentment and connection. While the craving for high levels of dopamine causes much negativity, serotonin ensures connection, contentment, and consequently happiness and a healthy living environment. We view dopamine and serotonin, as it were, as two opposites that must exist in a good balance together. The problem, however, is that the balance is now tipping towards dopamine, with all the consequences that entails. For more information on the differences between dopamine and serotonin, watch the following video.
To improve the dopamine-to-serotonin ratio, we sometimes combine a dopamine detox with a psychedelic session. For these types of sessions, we use psilocybin-containing truffles because psilocybin is converted into psilocin after ingestion, making it the most similar to serotonin among psychedelics. The dopamine detox as preparation already ensures reduced dopamine dependence, and the psychedelic session provides insight into what it feels like to experience heightened serotonin receptor stimulation. Such a psychedelic session can show you and let you experience what it is like to be connected to everything, what contentment and happiness mean, and can lower dopamine dependence. In addition to these effects, many more positive effects play a role. If you are interested in the positive effects of psychedelic sessions, you can also read the following blogs.
A healthier living environment starts with individuals. We believe that if we cure individuals of the urge for fake happiness and the resulting self-destruction, we can also prevent the destruction of the planet. We do this for you, but also for ourselves and future generations. If we can occasionally be content and happy with what we have, and not focus too much on what we lack to make ourselves complete, then we are already complete. Let us be good to ourselves and sometimes realize that someone else, the planet, and the universe are also ourselves. Let us stop thinking that you can find happiness somewhere. If you seek happiness externally, then you are not there. Let us all open our eyes and rediscover the power to realize that happiness comes from within.
Do you also want to get rid of some stubborn illusions and beliefs imposed by your past circumstances? Psychedelic sessions combined with the right preparation can be very helpful in this regard. Such a psychedelic session is not suitable for everyone, but for the majority of the population, it would be beneficial to take a psychedelic journey inward at least once. At Trip Therapy, we pay extra attention to physical and mental health during the preparation. Are you considering Trip Therapy? Then start with the intake so we can advise you.
