Psilocybin as an anti-inflammatory

More and more scientific studies confirm that psilocybin works as an anti-inflammatory. Most natural treatments against Crohn's disease work because they have anti-inflammatory mechanisms. So can psilocybin as an anti-inflammatory at the cellular level do anything for persons with Crohn's?

The anti-inflammatory effects of psilocybin explained

Briefly, psilocybin has the following effects on inflammation and thus the immune system, according to research:

  • During psilocybin use, TNF-alpha is reduced.
  • After using psilicybin, IL-6 ( Interleukin-6) is lowered.
  • After using psilocybin, CRP (C-reactive protein) is reduced.
  • Psilocybin inhibits the phosphorylation of TXNIP, STAT-1 and STAT-3.
  • Psilocybin reduces the amount of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX2).
  • Psilocybin protects β-cells in the pancreas.
  • Psilocybin increases the concentration of BDNF.
  • High doses of psilocybin reduced the amount of phagocytosis of healthy neurons.
  • Psilocybin causes the increased expression of genes TREM2, DUSP1, Iκβ-α and SGK1.
  • Psilocybin reduces EGR2 gene expression
  • Psilocybin reduced TLR4, p65 and CD80 gene expression
  • Psilocybin reduced the production of pro-inflammatory gene transcription factor NF-KB
  • Psilocybin can potentially bind to the Histamine1 receptor (H1) with value Ki 304.6)

How does psilocybin's anti-inflammatory effect on Crohn's?

We are currently working out what the direct impact is on Crohn's disease. We expect this article online within a week and then we will post the link here.
