Painkillers like paracetamol also work against emotional pain. The same applies to natural painkillers such as our body's own endorphins. You produce endorphins during strength training, among other things.

Red peppers also work against pain, and therefore probably against emotional pain as well. Our body responds to the spiciness of red peppers by producing endorphins.
