I am a Full-time Tripsitter (Marcel van der Putten) and the founder of Triptherapie. About 7 years before I founded Triptherapie, I used psychedelics myself many times and supported many people during trips. I have now also been working at Triptherapie as a Tripsitter for 8 years. The number of people I have guided is already over 2,300! As a result, it has turned into a full-time job for me, and that is quite different from guiding a trip every now and then—at least, that is how it feels now.

At the beginning of this psychedelic career, I was unstoppable; I worked every day. I can still remember a week when I had eight sessions in just one week. Looking back on it now, that was too much. Is that really the case? Yes, and no! What I notice is that in the past, my clients mostly consisted of people who tripped for the sake of tripping, and that was easier to guide. They needed little preparation and integration, but more of a sober tripping buddy. Now, the emphasis of guidance is increasingly on the therapeutic aspect, and that is a whole different ball game and a different mental burden.
No longer leading 7-day trips
Because the nature of the request for help has changed over time, I am also of the opinion that trip facilitation requires recovery time for the trip sitter or therapist. Facilitating sessions randomly is becoming less and less feasible, and a good balance between rest and work is increasingly necessary. I now think that 3 or 4 sessions per week are ideal for maintaining this balance, perhaps with one day of work followed by one day off, or two days of work followed by two days off. It might be nice not to work more than two consecutive days when you have therapeutic sessions, simply to recharge yourself and be emotionally available for the next one.
What my schedule looks like now
I now block two or three days per week by default so that I cannot be booked for a session on those days. The result of this ensures this availability.
Reviews
Also take a look my reviews, That's already 122 at the moment. I do this work primarily for the results, and that's why the reviews are always so nice to read. And perhaps it might be informative for you?
