Currently, MDMA falls under the Opium Act (List I) in the Netherlands and is, in principle, prohibited for both recreational and regular therapeutic use. As a result, it is not possible to prescribe MDMA yourself as a medicine for therapy.
However, we offer therapeutic support by using legally available MDMA analogues. These substances mimic the therapeutic effects of MDMA but are not (yet) subject to the strict regulations of the Opium Act. This allows us to work in a safe and controlled environment within current legislation.
Provisional accessibility of MDMA analogues
The therapeutic use of these MDMA analogues without the intention of providing medical treatment is provisionally permitted. This applies until the government introduces new legislation that explicitly prohibits these analogues. The new law is expected to take effect on July 1, 2025. Until then, we are making optimal use of this opportunity to guide clients through the positive and healing effects of MDMA-assisted therapy.
