Psilohuasca Amsterdam
Now that ayahuasca has once again been declared illegal by the courts, many providers of ayahuasca are switching to psilohuasca. Ayahuasca stands for DMT in combination with MAO inhibitors, and psilohuasca stands for psilocybin and psilocin-containing truffles or magic mushrooms in combination with MAO inhibitors.
We are not fans of MAO inhibitors, and we explain here why we only use mild MAO inhibitors for the Psilohuasca ceremony in Amsterdam
It is logical that MAO inhibitors are used with Ayahuasca. The enzyme MAO breaks down the active substance DMT immediately after ingestion. An MAO inhibitor, or MAOi, prevents MAO from breaking down DMT. Additionally, the MAO inhibitor ensures that other monoamines, such as dopamine and tyramine, are not broken down. The buildup of dopamine is undesirable for therapy in many cases, but it is not a major problem either. The buildup of tyramine, however, is a problem. Tyramine can cause high blood pressure, brain hemorrhages, and even death. Therefore, to prevent problems with tyramine, a modified diet must be followed.

To reiterate that MAO inhibitors can pose risks, we provide a list of substances that are very dangerous in combination with MAO inhibitors. You should not use the following substances 24 hours before and 24 hours after the trip.
MAO inhibitors cause an increased risk of health complaints. Furthermore, the buildup of dopamine more often leads to a less effective effect from psychedelics (in our experience). Ayahuasca cannot be done without MAO inhibitors because otherwise DMT does not work orally. But Psilohuasca It is possible without MAO inhibitors. Psilocybin and psilocin can be absorbed without difficulty and remain active for 4-6 hours. If you do add MAO inhibitors, you can save on the amount of psilocybin-containing magic mushrooms or truffles. When adding a lot of MAO inhibitors, the trip also lasts a few hours longer.

We are of the opinion that the benefits of MAO inhibitors do not outweigh the disadvantages. Saving on costs should not be the reason. Extending the duration of the trip can be both an advantage and a disadvantage. A good, intense trip does not need to last super long. We would rather choose a high dose and experience a good trip than a prolonged, mild trip.
Therefore, we do not use MAO inhibitors. If you still wish to achieve a partial effect so that MAO is mildly inhibited, there are milder MAO inhibitors that we can use in consultation. Let us state upfront that health and safety are paramount and that we do not cut corners on costs. Our truffle tea is enhanced with extras such as vitamins, minerals, and other activating substances that support the brain.
