From the individuals who underwent an MDMA session via Triptherapie and provided feedback, I have compiled a summary of the progress they experienced. What recurs most prominently in these experiences is not a story of “instant healing,” but rather a pattern of feeling more safe, gaining access to hard-to-reach layers of trauma, being less controlled by the past, and subsequently experiencing more hope, peace, or self-compassion. In multiple reviews, people describe that regular therapy had already yielded some results, but that a deeper layer remained that they were able to access more effectively with MDMA-assisted sessions.
A first recurring theme is safety during the process. In the case of trauma and PTSD, this seems to be almost a prerequisite for these participants to be able to sink deeper into the experience. For example, a participant with Complex PTSD writes that he trusted Marcel “immediately” and that he “never felt unsafe.” Another participant with PTSD mentions that Ronald’s presence and professionalism helped him get through intense fear. This is also reflected in the German-language experiences, with formulations such as the preliminary interview “did a lot of fear” and Ronald being a calm guide during overwhelming feelings.
A second pattern is gain access to underlying parts or inner layers which were previously difficult to access. This is sometimes described in IFS terms, such as “inner child,” “parts,” or a feeling that one gained access to areas of the subconscious that normally remain closed. For one reviewer, the inner child became palpable; for another, inner parts became “realer” after the session and therefore more practically applicable in daily life. Another participant, however, describes suddenly receiving images, clarity, and language to better understand inner processes.
A third theme is reducing the grip of the past, without anyone claiming that all symptoms are gone. That nuanced difference is important. The strongest phrasing comes from the reviewer who did three MDMA sessions with Marcel and writes that he “no longer feel controlled by the past”. Other participants explicitly state that their problems were not suddenly solved, but that something fundamental did shift. For someone with PTSD, for example, it involved sleeping better, more mindfulness, and being able to concentrate better. For another, it was not about the complete disappearance of symptoms, but about a different way of dealing with oneself, with more hope and less self-rejection.
A fourth recurring result is more hope, gentleness and connection. This is reflected particularly in the language people use afterwards. Not only words like “transformative” and “healing,” but also sentences about being able to feel love again, feeling enough, or finally experiencing a new perspective after many previous therapies. In the CPTSD review from Vienna, this is very clear: the writer says that he “allows myself to feel love again.” This points not only to symptom relief but also to the restoration of relational and emotional safety, something that is often at least as important in complex trauma as the reduction of anxiety or flashbacks.
When these experiences are placed side by side, they primarily show that participants with PTSD or C-PTSD report results on four levels: greater safety in contact with difficult emotions, better access to trauma-related inner parts, less imprisonment by old patterns, and more hope or self-love after the session. At the same time, several people honestly admit that integration remains necessary and that follow-up work is important. These reviews therefore primarily demonstrate personal experiences of the recovery movement, not a guarantee of a cure.
