Tripsitter, trip coach or trip therapist?
There are various terms for guides of psychedelic trip sessions. The goal of a psychedelic trip therefore varies. Most people call a guide during a truffle ceremony ed a tripsitter.
More than a tripsitter
The work as a tripsitter Often encompasses only guidance during the trip. A tripsitter primarily ensures safety during the psychedelic trip. A trip coach or trip therapist goes further than a tripsitter because they do more than just guarantee safety.
What does a trip coach or trip therapist do?
I prefer to call myself a trip coach rather than a trip therapist. This has to do with the fact that the word therapist carries a connotation suggesting that the therapist has the solutions. In psychedelic therapy, however, it is the client themselves who is the therapist, because the self-healing capacity of the brain and body is utilized. The task of the trip coach is to offer suggestions that benefit the client.
