Alutard SQ Giffen 802 is an allergen extract used for specific immunotherapy in patients with allergies to insect venom, such as from bees or wasps. The mechanism of action of Alutard SQ is based on the gradual exposure of the immune system to small amounts of the allergen, with the aim of modulating the immune response and reducing sensitivity to the allergen. Although Alutard SQ does not target specific receptors, it influences the activity of immune cells such as T cells and B cells, leading to increased production of regulatory T cells and a shift from IgE to IgG antibodies. This results in a reduced allergic reaction upon exposure to the insect venom in question.

MDMA and the immune system:

MDMA (analog) works primarily via neurotransmitters such as serotonin, dopamine, and noradrenaline. But it also has indirect effects on the immune system, for example:

  • ImmunosuppressionMDMA can temporarily suppress the function of certain immune cells (such as T cells and NK cells).
  • Cytokine profileIt can reduce or alter the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines.
  • Elevated cortisol levelsBy stimulating the HPA axis, MDMA can increase cortisol production, which also has a suppressive effect on the immune system.

There is no evidence that MDMA directly interferes with the action of Alutard SQ or its receptors (such as T-cell receptors or B-cell activation pathways). But:

  • Indirect influence is possible: Due to the temporary suppression of the immune system, MDMA can theoretically affect the effectiveness of immunotherapy — for example, by inhibiting the desired immune training.
  • Timing is importantIf someone receives an immunotherapy injection shortly after a dose of MDMA, the immune response might possibly be less effective than normal. However, this is hypothetical and has not been well studied.

In practice, the effect of MDMA on SQ Giffen 802 and the immune response is minimal, especially if there is at least a day or, even better, two days between use. So, to be on the safe side, you can leave two days between the use of MDMA and SQ Giffen 802 to leave.

No medical advice: This is not medical advice, and to be on the safe side, you should consult a doctor who can assess your specific case. Having an adrenaline auto-injector (such as an EpiPen, Jext, or Emerade) on hand could possibly be preventive advice from a medical specialist.
