Can I also choose bufo with you after a truffle ceremony?
No, we do not currently offer ceremonies or sessions with Bufo. Bufo is the secretion of the Colorado River frog or Sonoran Desert toad. These toads belong to the genus Incilius alvarius, which was formerly called Bufo alvarius. Bufo primarily contains the psychoactive substance 5-MeO-DMT, as well as other compounds such as bufotenine (5-HO-DMT), bufagin, and bufotenidine. These substances also have psychoactive properties, but have less influence on the effects of Bufo.
We do not use Bufo, and avoiding the use of Bufo is more animal-friendly for several reasons:
Habitat disturbanceHarvesting the secretions of the Colorado River Toad (Bufo alvarius) can disrupt their natural habitat. These toads are often caught, causing stress and potential damage to their environment.
Physical damage to the toadsThe practice of "milking" toads can be very stressful for these animals. The toads are held and their secretions are harvested, which can cause pain and trauma.
Risk of overexploitationDue to the increasing popularity of 5-MeO-DMT, there is a risk that populations of the Colorado River Toad may decline. This can have negative consequences for the ecosystem of which these toads are a part.
Ethical alternativeSynthetic alternatives to 5-MeO-DMT exist that do not use animals. The use of these alternatives can provide the same psychoactive effects without causing harm to animals.
Alternatives to Bufo
There are alternatives to Bufo that are also short-acting, just as Bufo is when the Bufo vapor is inhaled. These are:
The long-lasting alternatives are:
We prefer psilocybin, because psilocybin in scientific studies often shows the most progress when compared to other psychedelics. Furthermore, psilocybin, along with pure DMT, appears to be the psychedelic with the lowest risk of physical complications.
