I have complex PTSD and I take Venlafaxine. I want to do MDMA therapy, and my doctor is willing to guide me through the tapering process. Can I have a session with you?
Hi Bina,
If you can taper off the venlafaxine in consultation with your doctor, we can schedule an MDMA session afterwards. The half-life of venlafaxine varies, but it is generally estimated to be about 5 to 11 hours. This means that after about 5 to 11 hours, half of the ingested dose of venlafaxine has disappeared from the body. It usually takes about 5 times the half-life for a medication to be completely eliminated from the body. So, in the case of venlafaxine, it can take approximately 25 to 55 hours for it to completely disappear from the body. As a precaution, the maximum elimination time is doubled. You could do an MDMA session 110 days after the last use of venlafaxine; this corresponds to approximately 6 days. Incidentally, the MDMA sessions we organize use a legal MDMA analogue, as MDMA itself is illegal.

It is very important that the venlafaxine is completely out of your body before you start MDMA therapy, which takes approximately 6 days after the last dose. It is advised to coordinate both processes closely with your doctor so that you can safely start the session. This also gives you time to mentally prepare for this valuable therapeutic experience.
