Can antacids and magic truffles/mushrooms/psilocybin be taken together?

Antacids are medications such as those that can adjust the amount of stomach acid secreted or the acidity of the stomach acid in various ways.

These are the most common antacids:

1. AntacidsThese antacids work by neutralizing stomach acid. Examples include Rennie, Maalox, Gaviscon, and Tums. These acid-reducing medications can reduce acidity by converting psilocybin into the active substance. psilocin slow down. However, this effect has minimal influence on the effects of truffles/magic mushrooms/psilocybin, although more nausea may sometimes be experienced.

2. H2-receptor antagonistsThese medications reduce the production of stomach acid by blocking histamine receptors in the stomach wall. Examples include ranitidine (Zantac), famotidine (Pepcid), and cimetidine (Tagamet). No interactions are known between these H2 receptor agonists and psilocybin or psilocin.

3. Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs)These medications reduce stomach acid production by blocking the proton pump in the stomach wall. Examples include omeprazole (Prilosec), esomeprazole (Nexium), lansoprazole (Prevacid), and pantoprazole (Protonix). These proton pump inhibitors do not interact directly with substances in magic truffles. However, reduced stomach acid production can lead to increased nausea when using the truffles.

4. Prostaglandin analoguesThese medications protect the stomach lining and reduce the production of stomach acid. Examples are misoprostol (Cytotec) and sucralfate (Carafate). The combination of prostaglandin analogues with psilocybin from magic truffles has no known harmful interactions.

Conclusion: The most well-known heartburn medication/antacids do not have a direct interaction with magic truffles, magic mushrooms, or psilocybin. However, stomach problems or reduced stomach acid concentration or acidity may lead to increased symptoms such as nausea. The absorption of the active substances may also be slightly slower.

Yes, antacids and magic truffles, magic mushrooms or psilocybin can in principle be used together, but there are some important nuances to take into account.

Most acid reducers — such as antacids (e.g., Rennie, Maalox), H2-receptor antagonists (such as ranitidine or famotidine), and proton pump inhibitors (such as omeprazole or pantoprazole) — have no direct harmful interactions with psilocybin or psilocin, the active ingredients in magic truffles. This means that they do not combine dangerously.

However, the reduced acidity in the stomach resulting from stomach acid inhibitors can cause the conversion of psilocybin to psilocin to proceed slightly more slowly. This can result in a delayed effect and, in some cases, slightly more stomach complaints, such as nausea. This slight delaying effect is particularly known with antacids and proton pump inhibitors.

A second point of attention is digestion. Long-term use of antacids can disrupt natural stomach acid production, which in turn affects the absorption of nutrients and medications. This also plays a role in preparing for a psychedelic session: healthy gut and stomach function contributes to a more comfortable and deeper experience.

Do you want to prevent stomach upset as much as possible during a truffle or psilocybin session? Then it is wise to avoid heavy meals prior to the session, stay well hydrated, and possibly choose a form of psilocybin intake that is milder on the stomach, such as tea.

Lately, there have been more people taking antacids at our truffle ceremonies, and we do not notice much difference regarding the interaction and effects of the truffles or psilocybin. This may also be because we add some acid to the truffles ourselves to the to accelerate the conversion of psilocybin to psilocin.

I have never had any trouble with the combination.
