Could you briefly describe what guiding a trip looks like at your company?
The guidance begins with providing advice based on the intake. This focuses on the client's mindset and neurochemistry. On the day itself, it starts with a preparatory conversation in which goals are discussed and the tone is set for the psychedelic trip. As soon as the client is ready, the psychedelics are taken, and the conversation continues until talking becomes more difficult. After that point, some tips or motivational messages can be given before the wordless phase begins.
After that quiet phase, which resembles daydreaming, we review what happened during the trip and how we can use it. The integration of insights can happen immediately after the session, but it is more common for this to take place via a phone call a few days later.

At Triptherapie, the guidance during a psychedelic session revolves around safety, personal attunement, and integration — with the goal of offering you a profound, transformative experience in a controlled and empathetic setting. The exact nature of this process depends heavily on the substance chosen (such as psilocybin truffles, an MDMA analogue, or an LSD variant), your specific needs, and your personal preferences.
Each session begins with a extensive intake via this intake form, with which we map out your health, goals, and mental state. Based on this, it is determined whether psychedelic therapy is suitable and which substance and dosage suits you best. Subsequently, you receive tailored preparation advice, such as nutritional and supplement tips, to optimally support your neurochemistry.
On the day of the session, an experienced therapist or tripsitter will guide you personally at a location of your choice (for example, at home, in a holiday home, or in the atmospheric Psychedelic Loft in Schiedam). During the trip, there isn't too much therapeutic "direction," but you are supported when needed.
The experience itself unfolds in different phases. Approximately 15 to 30 minutes after ingestion, the first physical effects begin: these can be mild nausea, chills, or giggling. Shortly thereafter, the first visual effects appear, such as vibrating images, intense colors, and geometric patterns. From the moment the peak sets in (around 75–90 minutes after ingestion), the real inner work begins: your consciousness opens up, your ego may temporarily fade, and you are, as it were, “taken along” on a journey through your subconscious.
Music plays an essential role in this — it accompanies the emotional ebb and flow of the trip and acts as a kind of guide. You may experience visions, feel oneness with everything around you, relive old traumas, or receive important insights about yourself, your relationships, or life.
After about 5 to 6 hours, the intensity decreases. This is the moment for reflection and integration, in which guides help give meaning to what you have experienced. Many participants describe their truffle journey as a spiritual or therapeutic revelation that continues to impact their daily lives for weeks.
The guidance extends beyond just the session itself. A personal plan is drawn up to sustain the impact of the experience. This holistic process is highly appreciated by clients. As one participant wrote earlier: “You never feel alone — you are genuinely empathized with and supported, even after the session.”
