My GP mentioned your name and said that he has had many people in his practice who have been to Triptherapie. He said that he is not officially allowed to refer, but he does want to be present at my session if I decide to continue. Can my GP come along?

It is wonderful for us to hear that GPs are increasingly mentioning Triptherapie. This is often because clients speak positively about us during consultations with their GPs. It is wonderful that your GP is so open and even willing to offer support during a session. This can be absolutely valuable, both for your sense of safety and for integrating the experience into your further care trajectory.
So the answer is: Yes, your GP may be present at a session., provided you feel comfortable with that yourself. However, there are a few points to keep in mind to ensure everything remains legal:

Role of the general practitioner – Because psychedelic therapy is not (yet) a recognized medical treatment in the Netherlands, your GP will be present at the session as additional support and not in the official role of practitioner. Our facilitators remain responsible for the guidance of the psychedelic session.

Practical setting – In these types of situations, clients often choose to have the session at their home or in a quiet, rented space. This makes it easier to have a general practitioner present as well without the setting becoming too busy.
