How easy is it to get the truffle treatment with you guys when I come from abroad? How long do I stay in the Netherlands and how to plan this?

Yes, very easy. we have extensive experience with international clients and offers options in English (and sometimes German). Many guests travel from other European countries, the US, or even further for the legal and safe use of psilocybin truffles, which are not permitted in most countries.

If you're traveling from abroad to do a truffle treatment or psychedelic retreat with us here in the Netherlands, the process is actually very streamlined and tailored to international guests. Here's how it works and how you can plan it:

How long should you stay in the Netherlands?

Typically, we recommend:

  • 3–4 days total stay if you're doing one truffle session
  • Optionally longer if you want to include a day before for rest and another day after for integration or tourism

Here's a sample schedule:

  • Day 1: Arrive and rest (especially if jetlagged)
  • Day 2: Truffle session day
  • Day 3: Recovery day and/or integration call (remote)
  • Day 4: Optional integration activity, then travel back

Where do sessions take place?

Most international clients choose either:

  1. A private session in the Psychedelic Loft in Schiedam, near Rotterdam Airport—a cozy, art-filled retreat space with overnight options

  2. A session at your hotel or Airbnb (especially if you're booking a therapist to come to you — available in most of the Netherlands) Check the workarea and availability of our therapists here: Availability of private sessions

Planning steps for international visitors

  1. Start with the intake form — these checks for medical and psychological safety

  2. After the intake, you'll receive personalized advice and access to the calendar to choose your date

  3. Choose whether you want a private session or to join a group truffle ceremony

  4. Book flights and accommodation around your chosen session date

  5. Have a preparation call with your therapist before your trip (usually 1–2 weeks in advance)

  6. Fly in, relax, and have your session

  7. A few days later, you'll receive a follow-up integration call

Can I join a group retreat instead of a private session?

Yes, you can also join a truffle ceremony in group format. These are held monthly at the Schiedam location and include:

  • Full session and overnights
  • Meals, integration, and shared setting with like-minded people
  • Suitable for solo travelers or those open to connection

You can check the available group events here:  Agenda of open psychedelic group ceremonies

In the Netherlands it's really easy to get these magic truffle treatments (psilocybin). It's all legal here and there are a lot of guides, tripsitters and also therapists who are now shifting more towards these psychedelic therapies.

Because the truffle treatments are still only commercially available, it's easy. As long as you dont use meds or have big illnesses, you can pay for it.

Planning your stay
Marcel has already covered the basics well. Aim for 3–4 days minimum: arrive a day early to rest (especially if you’re suffering from jet lag), have your session on the day, then take a recovery/integration day before flying back. The Psychedelic Loft in Schiedam, near Rotterdam Airport, is set up specifically for this, or a therapist can come to your hotel or Airbnb if you prefer.

The legal situation
Psilocybin truffles are fully legal in the Netherlands, unlike mushrooms, which were banned in 2008. This is why the truffle model exists here and nowhere else. Anyone over the age of 18 can walk into a smart shop and buy them, but for a therapeutic session, you’ll want a guided session rather than going it alone.

Is it easy to book?
Yes, as long as you pass the initial screening (no contraindications such as certain medications or serious medical conditions) and can pay, you’re in. The intake form is available online, and you’ll receive a preparatory call 1–2 weeks before your session.

Does it actually work?
The science is genuinely promising. Studies at Johns Hopkins show that psilocybin-assisted therapy leads to significant reductions in depression and anxiety, with many patients describing it as one of the most meaningful experiences of their lives. A 2021 Phase 3 trial in Nature Medicine It was found that 67% of participants in MDMA-assisted therapy no longer had PTSD. More recently, meta-analyses suggest that multiple doses of psilocybin are more effective than single doses for the long-term treatment of depression. That said, these commercial truffle sessions are legally classified as coaching or wellness, not medical treatment.

Bottom line: If you’re in reasonably good health, aren’t taking SSRIs or MAOIs, and want a legal, professionally supervised psilocybin experience, the Netherlands is basically the easiest place in the world to do so. Book your session first, then arrange your flights to fit in with it.

Have a safe journey!
