Is MDMA therapy legal in the Netherlands yet?

The substance MDMA is illegal in the Netherlands. Therefore, therapy with MDMA is not yet permitted. An exception applies only to scientific research. However, MDMA therapy can still take place if no MDMA is used during the session, but rather a legal analogue of MDMA. The effects will then be mimicked as if it were MDMA. These MDMA treatments, in which legal MDMA analogues are used, are currently not considered medical treatments and are therefore not reimbursed by health insurers.
