Can you take a mind journey with psychedelics? A journey to the subconscious part of your brain? And which psychedelics work best for that? MDMA, LSD, or truffles?

Psychedelics are substances that can alter perception, mood, and consciousness, often leading users to profound inner experiences. These substances can induce a 'mind journey,' during which one gains access to the subconscious and acquires personal insights.

The most well-known psychedelics that induce such experiences are:

  • LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide): A synthetic substance that has powerful hallucinogenic effects and is often associated with profound mental and spiritual experiences.
  • Psilocybin: The active compound in magic mushrooms and truffles, known for inducing visual and mental hallucinations, as well as feelings of euphoria and connectedness.
  • DMT (dimethyltryptamine): A powerful psychedelic substance that causes intense, short-lived experiences, often described as out-of-body or spiritual journeys.
  • Ayahuasca: A traditional South American tea containing DMT and used for shamanistic and spiritual purposes, known for its profound psychological insights.

MDMA (3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine), also known as ecstasy, has a different mechanism of action. Although it has empathogenic and entactogenic effects, such as heightened feelings of empathy and connectedness, it is not considered a classic psychedelic and typically does not cause intense hallucinations or deep 'head journeys'.

The use of psychedelics carries potential risks, especially without proper guidance and in a suitable setting. Uncontrolled use can lead to psychological problems or the worsening of existing conditions. Therefore, it is recommended to undertake such experiences only under professional supervision.

At Triptherapie, we employ therapists trained by RINO Amsterdam in the therapeutic guidance of psychedelic sessions. Our professionals ensure a safe and supportive environment, where careful preparation, guidance, and integration take center stage. The term "head journey" suggests that the experience takes place primarily in the head, whereas psychedelic truffles are actually known for helping you step out of your rational thinking and get more in touch with your feelings. Many people who undergo a truffle ceremony experience a deep connection with their emotions, their subconscious, and even spiritual insights, which goes beyond just a mental journey.

Perhaps a name like "journey of consciousness" or "inner journey" would better suit what truffles actually do. What do you think?
