For how long should I refrain from taking triptans and zopiclone if I am going to use MDMA?
The combination of MDMA with the medications zopiclone and triptans can be dangerous. Triptans are often used to treat migraines, while zopiclone is a sleeping pill. MDMA can affect serotonin levels in the brain, and combining these medications with MDMA can increase the risk of serotonin syndrome.
The half-life of zopiclone, also known by the brand name Imovane, is approximately 5 hours. This means that after 5 hours, half of the last ingested dose of zopiclone has disappeared from the body. After 10 hours, approximately 75% of the ingested dose has disappeared from the body. It is generally assumed that five times the half-life is sufficient to eliminate medication; in the case of zopiclone, this is therefore 25 hours. When using MDMA, slightly more caution is required because the elimination time can vary, resulting in a time of two days. Individuals who do not use zopiclone for two full days before MDMA should not expect any interactions.
Most triptans, such as sumatriptan, rizatriptan, eletriptan, and zolmitriptan, have a similar half-life of approximately 2 hours. About 10 hours without using various triptans would be sufficient before using MDMA, but here too, as a precaution, a full day should be taken.
Since everyone is unique, the given withdrawal times for medication for MDMA use are merely guidelines, and you should contact your treating physician for specific medical advice.
More about: MDMA therapy

You must stop taking zopiclone for at least 2 days (48 hours) before using MDMA, and triptans for at least 1 day (24 hours). This is because both medications can interfere with serotonin and increase the risk of serotonin syndrome. It is always wise to discuss this thoroughly with your doctor.
