What is the minimum age for a psilocybin session?
There are no legal restrictions on the use of various substances such as truffles, magic mushrooms, or psilocybin. The minimum age recommended for participating in a psilocybin session is generally 23 years. This is based on the finding that the risk of developing psychosis is significantly higher for individuals under the age of 18, as they are often still in the developmental phase of their mental health. For individuals aged 23 and older, the chance of developing psychosis is much lower, because they have reached an age where psychosis would likely have already manifested, should this be a risk.
At Triptherapie, we only accept individuals between the ages of 18 and 23 as clients if they have a valid reason to participate. For individuals under 18, psychedelic sessions can only take place under strict conditions and with the permission of parents/guardians.
Regardless of age, we ask everyone to complete the intake form to assess whether they are suitable for a psilocybin session. This involves reviewing the participant's medical and psychological background, as well as any medication they are currently taking. This process helps prevent unsafe combinations of substances or conditions.
