Can psilocybin be taken together with Baclofen?

Currently, no specific research has been conducted into the interaction between psilocybin and Baclofen. Baclofen is a muscle relaxant used to treat muscle spasms. It does not have a direct interaction with serotonin, the neurotransmitter system that psilocybin acts on. From that perspective, it appears safe to continue using Baclofen before a psilocybin session. However, Baclofen (β-parachlorophenyl GABA) can mildly suppress the effects of psilocybin because it is a GABA-B receptor agonist. After all, substances such as benzodiazepines (also GABA agonists) are known to suppress the effects of psychedelics.

Another factor to consider is that Baclofen affects blood pressure and heart rhythm. Lowering blood pressure caused by Baclofen can lead to fainting when combined with psilocybin. It is generally accepted that psilocybin may slightly increase blood pressure at the beginning of a trip. The increase in blood pressure caused by psilocybin is usually mild and typically does not cause serious problems. As the psilocybin wears off, blood pressure may return to normal or even be lower than normal. However, it is possible that the lowered blood pressure immediately after the psilocybin session and the following day could lead to fainting or dizziness, especially if someone already has low blood pressure due to medication such as Baclofen.

To avoid suppressing the effects of psilocybin with Baclofen and to reduce the risk of fainting after the psilocybin session Limiting it seems the best option to temporarily stop using Baclofen. The half-life of baclofen varies, but is generally estimated to be about 2 to 4 hours. This means that after about 2 to 6 hours, half of the ingested dose of baclofen has disappeared from the body. It usually takes about 5 times the half-life for a drug to be completely eliminated from the body. So, in the case of baclofen, it can take about 10 to 30 hours for it to completely disappear from the body. To be on the safe side, stopping Baclofen two days before the psilocybin session is sufficient.
