Are truffle drops legal?
If truffle drops are extracts of truffles containing psilocybin and/or psilocin, then it is not legal. It is, in fact, not permitted to extract these substances from legal truffles and to possess or trade them. In the Netherlands, the use of psilocybin and psilocin in their concentrated or extracted forms, such as in drops, is therefore illegal. Although magic truffles themselves are legal and contain psilocybin, extracting these substances and trading or possessing the concentrated forms is contrary to the law. This falls under the Opium Act, which regulates the possession, sale, and production of prohibited substances.
It is important to emphasize that the legal status of fresh magic truffles in the Netherlands gives them a unique position compared to other psychedelics. The truffles can be safely used in a controlled setting, such as during truffle ceremonies, where the focus is on the therapeutic and spiritual benefits of psilocybin.
