What is a neglected burnout?
A neglected burnout is a burnout which remains untreated for a long time, causing symptoms to worsen and potentially become chronic. This can lead to profound physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion, and in some cases to long-term disability or depression.

✅ Persistent stress symptoms – Headache, muscle pain, sleep problems, palpitations.
✅ Mental decline – Forgetfulness, concentration problems, indecisiveness.
✅ Emotional instability – Crying easily, irritability, feelings of hopelessness.
✅ Avoiding social contact – Withdrawing from social situations and isolation.
✅ Worsening to depression or anxiety disorders – Negative thoughts and feelings of worthlessness.
🔹 Not taking symptoms seriously – Thinking that it 'will pass'.
🔹 Pressure from work or environment – Not taking time to recover.
🔹 Perfectionism or guilt – Not daring to admit that it’s no longer working.
🔹 Not seeking the right help – Being afraid of stigma or consequences in the workplace.
