What is kambo?

Kambo is a traditional medicine derived from the secretion of the Giant Tree Frog in the Amazon region. According to various providers, it is used for cleansing and healing on a physical, mental, and spiritual level. During a Kambo session, the Kambo secretion is applied to the skin, usually on minor burns. This can cause intense physical reactions, such as vomiting and sweating. The idea behind the use of Kambo is that the immune system reacts strongly and helps the body resolve other problems that would otherwise remain under the immune system's radar. However, scientific studies show that Kambo does not work better than a placebo, and therefore we at Triptherapie do not offer Kambo sessions or ceremonies.

And what's the point of it?

Some users reported that kambo helped them release emotional blockages, reduce anxiety, and promote a sense of mental clarity and connection. Some users also say they suffer less from incurable diseases thanks to kambo.

Although kambo can cause certain side effects, such as vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, and facial swelling, serious complications are rare. People suffering from certain medical conditions, such as heart disease, epilepsy, severe mental disorders, or autoimmune diseases, should exercise caution when using kambo.

Kambo is a traditional cleansing ceremony from the Amazon in which the poison of the Phyllomedusa bicolor, a tree frog, is applied to small burns on the skin. This method has been used by indigenous tribes for centuries for physical and spiritual purification.

What does kambo do?

After the poison is administered, physical reactions such as nausea, vomiting, sweating, diarrhea, and palpitations occur within minutes. These intense physical reactions are part of the "detoxification" that is central to kambo.

There are people who use kambo to:

  • To strengthen the immune system.
  • To eliminate bodily toxins.
  • To experience mental clarity or a sense of a "restart".
  • To feel energetically clean or spiritually purified.

Some also report improvement in chronic conditions such as migraines, fatigue, and addiction, although these claims are not yet sufficiently scientifically substantiated.

Risks of kambo

Kambo is not without danger. The reactions can be particularly severe, and there are reports of serious complications, such as dehydration, hypotension (low blood pressure), and in rare cases, even death. Therefore, kambo is Not suitable for people with heart problems, epilepsy, mental disorders, or those taking certain medications..

Conclusion

Kambo is a powerful and controversial alternative therapy that revolves primarily around physical and energetic cleansing. It is important that it is performed under the guidance of a highly experienced and well-informed practitioner. Unlike a truffle ceremony, where introspection and psychological healing are central, while kambo places the emphasis primarily on physical detox and spiritual purification through physical release.

Do you specifically want to work on mental health, trauma processing, or self-insight? Then a psilocybin session or psychedelic therapy probably more suitable and safer with Triptherapie.
