The subconscious is a collection of all processes taking place in the brain that consciousness does not perceive. So, pretty much everything that is not thought about but is still active. Think of your unconscious reflexes, learned patterns, and innate behavior.
The subconscious sends signals to the conscious brain without the conscious brain being aware of it. Through these signals, the subconscious directs the conscious mind to make certain choices. Often, the choice has already been made before you can consciously think about it. In that case, everything seems to happen automatically. In people with depression and/or anxiety, there is often a hidden fear concealed in the subconscious. This fear may have nothing to do with current reality, but the subconscious can still send signals to the conscious mind.
Veritasium explains in an easy-to-understand way how the conscious and subconscious brain work together via the video below.
Virtually everyone connects with the subconscious every time they dream. During dreams, a substance called DMT is released, which is produced by the pineal gland.

DMT is very similar to serotonin and can therefore bind to the same receptors in the brain. As soon as there is a lot serotonin When receptors in the brain are stimulated by DMT, particularly in the frontal lobe, the brain enters a state of hyperconnectivity. This state of hyperconnectivity is called dreaming during sleep and tripping while awake. During dreaming, effective communication with the subconscious is possible. This can result in strange dreams or dreams that help you process recent experiences.

There are various techniques that make your body "think" it is sleeping, causing the pineal gland to produce more DMT. We call this tripping. Being in a dream state or a state of hyperconnectivity during the day can have many benefits. This state of being is useful for exploring the subconscious while remaining conscious, rather than dreaming. During a trip, you can clearly examine where your fears lie, and it is often realized that those fears are not real at all. This new knowledge is then processed, and old (negative) patterns are changed.
There are methods that can help, such as hypnotherapy, EMDR, deep meditation, and breathing therapy.
Because psychedelic substances can induce a much higher state of hyperconnectivity than the aforementioned substances, which only allow the body to produce a limited state of hyperconnectivity, we conduct our trip therapy using psilocybin. This method works best for depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem.
The effects of psilocybin are very similar to the body's own.

how psilocybin works.
