Ego therapy

In the case of a high-dose truffle ceremony a loss of ego will occur. We refer to this as an ‘ego-death’ or an ‘ego-less’ experience. This form of ego therapy is the most challenging but also the most effective form of therapy for combating depression, anxiety and other psychological distress. We can also use it to treat addictions such as alcoholism.

What is the ego?

Everything that makes you an individual falls under the ego. It is the "I", as opposed to everything that lies outside the body and the mind. The ego ensures that an individual can survive by assessing every situation and making a ‘safe’ choice. Unfortunately, the ego takes this survival very seriously. So seriously, in fact, that it can even cause your conscious thought patterns to be blocked by the subconscious ego. All of this simply to ensure survival. The subconscious ego draws on all the data stored in the form of memories and what is encoded in the DNA. Fear of anything that isn’t an easy way to survive (i.e. the familiar things that won’t kill you) is a very powerful guiding force for the ego.

When is the ego a good thing?

The ego ensures your survival. The fear of dying from fast-moving objects such as a car has its advantages. It prevents pain and, potentially, death. These processes of the ego increase your chances of survival and operate at a subconscious level. If you accidentally place your hand on a hot pan, your hand is already withdrawn before you feel any physical pain. These forms of self-protection by the ego are therefore useful.

When is the ego a bad thing?

The older one gets, the more the ego realises what an easy – and at the same time cowardly – way of life this is. Fears from the past determine one’s reluctance to live. Fear becomes a limitation, and often no longer has any basis in reality in the present day. Being stuck in a pattern that allows one to survive but does not give the feeling of truly living can lead to mental health issues such as depression, fear or burnout. Who is in charge of our lives? If the ego makes the wrong decisions and restricts our lives, it can be difficult to find a way out of that situation on our own.

An ego-less experience in the face of the negative ego

Sometimes you can only see the bigger picture when you step back from it. By undergoing an ego-less experience – known in English as "ego-death" – one can regain one’s bearings. During an ego-death, the sense of one’s own self fades. One sees oneself as a part of a greater whole – namely, the universe. Yet it is then possible to view the ego’s decisions from a ‘distance’ and recognise why they no longer serve the individual. Adjusting one’s lifestyle from that point onwards then becomes easier, partly thanks to the loss of fear and the ability to put things into perspective during the ego-death. It seems as though everything makes sense and that it is illogical to allow oneself to be blocked from loving life.

Fancy trying ego therapy?

Would you like to take back control of what is and isn’t good for you? We offer this form of therapy using psychedelics. Psychedelics are the most powerful means of experiencing ‘ego death’. Our step-by-step plan for losing the ego and effectively implementing ego therapy is as follows:

  1. Create an account and fill out intake form
  2. A two-week diet based on food intake
  3. Any supplements and exercise advice whilst on a diet
  4. Truffle ceremony at your venue
  5. Debriefing: experiences and points for consideration

As you can see, we follow a personalised plan that focuses on both the mind and the body. We do this because we believe it is the best way to achieve results.

In ego state therapy, hypnotherapy is often used to induce a dream-like state, allowing us to explore the subconscious. The subconscious often contains the blockages and fears that we wish to resolve. Did you know that psychedelic therapy using a high dose of psilocybin is the most powerful way to access the subconscious mind and is therefore the most effective? That is why we use psilocybin to help people overcome deep-seated fears. A life free from subconscious fears opens up new possibilities. Can we help you?
