Tripsitten

Tripsitting is often seen as something straightforward, yet when it comes to using psychedelics, there’s always an element of the unpredictable. It’s always a good idea to prepare yourself properly, but can you really be prepared for everything? This blog is about my role as a tripsitter during a psychedelic trip with five Romanian friends.

Trip-sitting or trip-coaching after all?

Generally speaking, my work involves more trip coaching than trip sitting. Trip coaching usually has a therapeutic aim, whereas trip sitting seems to be more about fun or curiosity. Nevertheless, even with sessions requested as ‘trip-sitting’, situations can arise that could be described as therapeutic. Particularly during deeper trips, situations can arise that foster personal growth because a connection can be made with the subconscious. It is precisely there, in the subconscious, that the answers to questions you didn’t even know you had often lie. This is exactly what happened with the group last Saturday.

The tripsitting session in Amsterdam

One of my Romanian friends asked me to act as a trip sitter. He’d booked a hotel in central Amsterdam and wanted to make his hotel room available to the group, with the idea that it was just for fun and a sort of introduction to psychedelics. Personally, I prefer to use psychedelics as a therapeutic tool, but I agreed to help this group nonetheless. So last Saturday was the day, and I travelled to the Krasnapolsky Hotel in Amsterdam.

You can also organise a truffle ceremony in hotels

From babysitting to the ceremony

We started with a low dose of psilocybin and, whilst everyone was coming round, I was able to keep everyone entertained by bringing along some games. After about an hour, the group wanted to experience the ceremony more in the way I usually organise it. This was because nobody was afraid any longer of what might happen. So the tension had eased. We then increased the dose of psilocybin slightly. Ultimately, the trip shifted from something done purely for fun to something deeper, where we encountered concepts such as the drive for perfection and old emotional wounds. In this way, the trip still ended up having a therapeutic effect.

Group dynamics

The group dynamic at the heart of this blog was excellent. This fostered a sense of calm and trust, and created the space for people to be themselves. If you’d ever like to experience a truffle ceremony yourself, put your own group together and keep it small. We at triptherapie.nl can advise and guide you.

Our pet-sitting services

We always try to do more than just trip-sit. If there is a specific issue to be addressed, such as depression, anxiety or other symptoms, we can also draw up a personalised plan to provide support before, during and after the trip.

Book now

You can make a booking directly using the form below. Please bear in mind that you must not take SSRIs, MAO inhibitors, lithium, antipsychotics, antidepressants or tramadol in combination with psychedelics. If you are susceptible to psychosis, it is also advisable not to take part in a psychedelic experience.

Please use the form below if you are booking a hotel or Airbnb yourself, or if you are making your own home available. Only one person per group needs to make the booking. Any additional costs (travel costs at 25 cents per km and extra guests at 75 euros per person) will be charged later. If you are planning to book a venue yourself, it is worth noting that Amsterdam, Haarlem and Alkmaar are the nearest towns, and you can also book a venue in the countryside somewhere between them if that is your preference.

As for the difficulty level of your first trip, we generally recommend trip level 3. Of course, we can still change this later in consultation with you.
