Today I get to be at a special place again LSD session Guiding couples. This time, the focus is not on the relationship itself, as in relationship therapy, but rather on a spiritual experience and an inner journey for both partners. The beauty of this location is that it is situated just about a 25-minute drive from Schiphol, yet you still feel far away from the hustle and bustle. It is a quiet, natural environment that suits couples well who want to experience something profound together, without distractions from the outside world.

In a spiritual session, the approach differs from when the goal is primarily therapeutic or relational. We focus less on conversation and analysis and more on surrender, experience, and letting go of conventional thinking. It is not so much about understanding everything, but rather about feeling more, being present, and making space for what arises from within. In doing so, the physical is allowed to recede somewhat into the background, creating room for an experience that feels greater than the everyday self.

Music can provide great support in such a process. The right sounds can help to sink deeper into the experience, open up emotions, and strengthen a sense of flow or unity. Music often acts as a wordless guide and can touch precisely what is difficult to reach with language. Especially during an LSD session, music can deepen the inner journey and make it easier to let go of control.

The place itself also plays an important role. A natural environment often affects people very differently than a standard indoor space. Outdoors, or in a place where nature is strongly present, a sense of calm, safety, and connection arises more quickly. Trees, leaves, water, clouds, and the play of light constantly provide subtle stimuli that can be experienced much more intensely during a psychedelic experience. What normally goes barely by suddenly comes to the fore.

That is not surprising, for nature is full of geometric patterns, symmetry, and fractal forms. Think of branches, veins in leaves, flowers, bark, waves, and the structure of landscapes. We often do not consciously perceive these forms, but the subconscious certainly seems to recognize them. It is precisely this geometry and these patterns that are often among the first noticeable effects of a psychedelic journey. Even before deep insights or strong emotional processes set in, many people already notice subtle changes in their perception. Structures become more vivid, patterns seem to repeat themselves, and forms gain more depth, rhythm, and coherence.

That is precisely why nature can kickstart the journey inward, as it were. The forms already present in the environment align seamlessly with the first visual and sensory changes of the trip. As a result, the experience often does not feel abrupt or strange, but rather natural and fluid. It is as if the trip becomes an extension of the patterns and rhythms already present in nature. The outer world and the inner experience then slowly begin to merge.

Furthermore, for many people, a natural environment feels safe, gentle, and less artificial than a busy or clinical setting. This sense of safety often makes it easier to let go of control and surrender more fully. And it is precisely this surrender that helps avoid staying on the surface, allowing one to sink deeper into the experience. From looking outward, a movement inward emerges in an almost natural way—towards feeling, experiencing, and connecting with something greater than ordinary thinking.

That makes such a place particularly suitable for couples who want to embark on a spiritual experience together. You each make your own inner journey, but within the same atmosphere, the same safety, and the same natural setting. This can not only lead to personal insights and wonder, but also to a subtle sense of connection that you share together, without needing many words.
