The work as tripsitter It is a wonderful profession with lots of variety, challenges, and great success stories! When I discovered psychedelics myself about 15 years ago, I only wanted to try the "least unhealthy" variant. According to various lists, magic mushrooms and truffles were the ones that could cause the least harm. They could have the same positive effects on health, and I had to try it! After doing some research and reading scientific literature, I felt compelled to tell people that magic mushrooms and truffles can be used for health purposes. As a result, driven by enthusiasm and personal experience with the effects of psilocybin, I have assisted several people during their trips.

Now, 15 years later, 8 of which have been with Triptherapie, I have guided more than 2,200 people through the preparation, the psychedelic session, and the integration. But what is it like to work as a tripsitter?

While initially driven by interest in what people experience during the session, this slowly shifts towards a focus on performance. Over time, you learn that the trip itself and what is experienced can be important, but the content itself is slightly less important than how people progress after a trip. Of course, the experience has quite a lot to do with the result, but other factors also play a role. Sometimes you guide a boring, emotional, or spiritual trip, but you never know for sure what the long-term effect will be. I can, however, better estimate whether a trip itself and what is experienced will have any effect on that person, but it is always an estimate.

What do you need as a tripsitter? Often, the patience of an angel! If you do it right, you will be needed at a few moments during the actual trip, but you do have to be ready. What you can do as an addition is help think about the goals and use the right words before the trip begins, so that this is carried into the trip subconsciously. Perhaps that is the challenge: what seeds can you plant to make just that difference! And how can you make someone feel safe enough to go deep?

The nice thing is that everyone gets a unique experience, even though there is a common thread when you have guided 2,200+ trips. The variety and the results are the reasons why I do it, and when you realize that you have given just that little bit extra by influencing minimally, that is precisely when you can say: "I love it when a plan comes together!""
