What is the benefit of combining indolizine with psilocybin?

Indolizine is very similar in structure to what psilocin has. As a result, it also has anti-inflammatory effects, but with fewer hallucinations. The base of indolizine is also very similar to DMT, where the nitrogen (N) of the indol ring is in a different place. See image:

The difference of structure does ensure that less hallucinations are induced than the tryptamines such as DMT, psilocybin, etc. If the hallucinatory effects are seen as a disadvantage (in most cases, they actually work in favour), these are the advantages of the combination:

  • Reduction of Hallucinogenic Effects:
By combining indolizine with psilocybin, the strong hallucinogenic effects of psilocybin are tempered. This allows you to enjoy the therapeutic benefits without the intense psychedelic experience taking over.
  • Synergistic Therapeutic Effect:
Both substances activate the 5-HT2A receptor, which may lead to an enhancing therapeutic effect. This may result in more effective reduction of inflammatory responses and improvement of neuroplastic processes than when each agent is used separately.
  • Wider Scope:
Indolizine can mainly be used to treat inflammatory and metabolic conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, Crohn's disease, diabetes and obesity. Psilocybin, converted to psilocin, contributes to positive effects on the central nervous system, making the combination potentially suitable for a wide range of conditions.
  • Lower Doses and Improved Tolerance:
The synergistic effect makes it possible to use lower doses of psilocybin. This can lead to fewer side effects and better treatment safety, while maintaining the desired therapeutic effects.

In summary, the combination of indolizine and psilocybin offers a balanced approach: the potent anti-inflammatory effects of indolizine are exploited, while the central, neuroplastic effects of psilocybin are enhanced and the potentially disturbing hallucinogenic effects are inhibited. This makes the combination attractive for more effective treatment of inflammatory as well as metabolic and neurological disorders.
