Is there also research on whether psilocybin can help with C-PTSD?

There are now 12 scientific studies listed on PubMed in which psilocybin is used in patients with PTSD to relieve symptoms related to PTSD or depression it can cause. Of these twelve listings, two have been completed, namely the two below:

Study 1:

The Safety and Tolerability of COMP360 in Participants With Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

In this study, a sustained reduction of PTSD symptoms observed. Four weeks After a single dose of 25 mg psilocybin, 82% of the participants experienced at least a 15-point improvement in their CAPS-5 score. 12 weeks after the session, 77% met this criterion. Remission rates were comparably very positive! 64% of the participants met the remission definition of a CAPS-5 score of 20 or lower at week 4 and after 12 weeks. was it 55%.

Study 1:

Frontline ClinicianPsilocybin Study

The results of this study have not yet been published.

Research into psilocybin and depression:

This study focused primarily on depression rather than PTSD. Notably, in a large proportion of the participants, depression had completely disappeared ('remission') or significantly decreased ('response') after just three weeks. The participants were followed for another three months after the psilocybin session to determine whether the achieved result would remain unchanged. This study demonstrated that even after just one psilocybin session with 25 mg of psilocybin, sustained improvement can occur. These are the statistics of the study.

  • 38% Of the participants in the 25 mg psilocybin group showed improvement after three weeks.
  • 29% of the 25 mg group was in remission at week 3!
  • 24% of the participants in the 25 mg group had sustained improvement after 12 weeks!
