Do many people come from Belgium to Schiedam for a truffle ceremony?
Yes, many people from Belgium do indeed come to Schiedam for truffle ceremonies. Media attention in Belgium regarding the healing effects of psilocybin has led to increasing interest in psychedelic therapies. Since the use of psilocybin is illegal in Belgium, many Belgians seek alternatives in the Netherlands, where these substances are legal and there is more experience with their use in therapeutic contexts.
Many Belgian clients form small groups of 2 to 4 people themselves and come to the Netherlands to make use of the Psychedelic Loft in Schiedam. This location offers a safe and comfortable environment for the ceremony. After the session, it is customary for participants to stay overnight there before returning home. This offers them the chance to integrate the experience and recover in a peaceful setting.
It is also worth noting that doctors in Belgium sometimes recommend our services 'off the record' as an alternative to regular care, which further stimulates the influx of Belgian clients. In the first quarter of 2022, approximately half of our clients came from Belgium. Now, at the end of 2024, that has dropped to around 10% and we are receiving more registrations from Germany, so it can vary by period.
