An acetylcholine deficiency?

The neurotransmitter acetylcholine is involved in memory, creativity, and brain speed. If someone is less creative, slower to understand, less empathetic, curious, or has a poorer memory than before, there may be a deficiency of acetylcholine in the brain.

During the intake of trip therapy we test acetylcholine, among other things

Supplement acetylcholine

Replenishing the neurotransmitter acetylcholine can lead to noticeable improvements. Creativity, faster thinking, better memory, and quicker reflexes. You may also be more inclined to try new things. In short, you are more flexible and your brain works faster when acetylcholine levels are adequate.

Acetylcholine can be replenished through diet, herbs, supplements, and activities.

Nutrition and acetylcholine

Healthy nutrition is the foundation of a healthy brain. You can use the information from the following two blog posts as a basis.

Healthy diet | Anti-depression diet

Supplement your healthy diet with the following foods to increase acetylcholine.

  • Artichoke
  • Avocado
  • Leafy greens
  • Beans and legumes
  • Mushrooms
  • Chocolate (As pure as possible)
  • Eggs
  • Goji berries
  • Green tea
  • Oatmeal
  • Hemp seeds
  • Notes
  • Dandelion
  • Pumpkin seeds
  • Sesame seeds
  • Soybeans
  • Tofu
  • Meat (grass-fed)
  • Fish (fatty)
  • Seeds
  • Sunflower seeds

Herbs and acetylcholine

Increasing acetylcholine with strong medicinal herbs is an option for many people. However, a small group of people, such as pregnant women and individuals taking certain medications, should exercise caution. Personalized advice is recommended.

Ginkgo Biloba

Ginkgo Biloba improves the production, release, and function of acetylcholine, GABA, serotonin, and dopamine. You can buy ginkgo as a supplement or brew tea from this herb.

Salvia officinalis

Another name for Salvia officinalis is sage. In addition to preventing the breakdown of acetylcholine, sage also acts as an anti-inflammatory, painkiller, and blood pressure reducer. Sage can be used to make tea or as a herb in the kitchen.

Bacopa monnieri

Bacopa Monnieri prevents acetylcholine breakdown by inhibiting the enzyme acetylcholine esterase. Bacopa Monnieri is also known as a brain tonic.

Supplements and acetylcholine

To increase the level of acetylcholine in the brain, precursors of acetylcholine can be taken together with substances required for conversion to acetylcholine.

Acetylcholine precursors:

Alpha-GPC
Citicoline
SAMe
Choline

Excipients:

B vitamins
Magnesium

What else you can do

Brain training, balance exercises, dancing, sports, strength training, and meditation have a positive effect on the balance of neurotransmitters, including acetylcholine. Challenge yourself more often and try new things without overthinking them.

A warning about too much acetylcholine

If there is an excess of acetylcholine relative to dopamine, tremors can occur. Even Parkinson's disease is a consequence of this imbalance. Do you notice that increasing acetylcholine causes tremors? Then gradually reduce your intake and ensure that dopamine levels increase slightly relative to acetylcholine. Increasing dopamine can be achieved by lowering glutamate, which in turn can be done by increasing GABA. In this way, all neurotransmitters affect each other, and everything must be in balance.

Other neurotransmitters

Personal advice

At Trip Therapy, we provide personalized advice to balance neurotransmitters even before a psychedelic session. Balancing neurotransmitters in itself often leads to relief of symptoms and ensures that a psychedelic session works more pleasantly and effectively.
