Interest in psychedelics for therapeutic purposes is growing rapidly. At the same time, official psychedelic-assisted therapy in the Netherlands is still largely in its early stages of development. It is precisely during this transitional phase that Triptherapie demonstrates what a safe, structured and person-centred approach can look like, without presenting itself as a conventional medical treatment.

Why that bridge is needed

Many people feel that a psychedelic experience can be profound, but also realise that a single session does not automatically lead to lasting change. Without preparation, targeted guidance and integration, an experience can sometimes be impressive, but difficult to apply to everyday life.

On the other hand, official psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy (PAP or PAT) is still not available within mainstream healthcare. Research, professional guidelines and psychiatric guidance documents do show that the therapeutic use of psychedelics is being seriously investigated, but that this field is still very much in its infancy.

Triptherapie sits precisely between those two worlds: it is neither hospital care nor mental health treatment, but rather professional support in which preparation, setting, support and integration are central.

No medical claims, but a well-thought-out approach

Triptherapie does not present its guidance as a recognised medical treatment, but as legal and personal support during psychedelic sessions, ceremonies and retreats. This distinction is important because there is a fundamental difference between coaching or counselling programmes, on the one hand, and formal psychotherapy or psychiatric treatment, on the other.

That difference does not mean that the approach is superficial. It is precisely by incorporating an intake process, preparation, targeted guidance and integration that a programme is created which, for many participants, is much more than just a ceremony or an experience.

The power of preparation

Within Triptherapie, the process does not begin at the intake, but well before that. We look at intentions, expectations, mental resilience, lifestyle and what exactly a person hopes to gain from the session.

This preparation aligns remarkably well with the way in which research and treatment models involving psychedelics are often conducted: it is not just the substance that matters, but also the set, the setting, the guidance provided, and the way in which a person is prepared both mentally and practically.

More than just the session

Triptherapie’s core activities consist of individual psychedelic sessions, duo ceremonies, truffle ceremonies and multi-day retreats. In doing so, we place particular emphasis on the entire process, ensuring that the experience is as closely tailored as possible to the individual, their needs and the intended goal.

This makes the support provided fundamentally different from an approach that is limited to facilitating a psychedelic experience. The session is important, but it only truly comes into its own when it is embedded within personalised care, structure and follow-up.

Integration as the key to real change

The key link between an intense experience and lasting change is integration. It is precisely after a psychedelic session has ended that the phase begins in which insights need to be understood, organised and put into practice.

Triptherapie focuses explicitly on this through integration sessions, integration days and multi-day programmes, which may also incorporate methods such as IFS, psychodrama, TSM, TRE, breathwork and other supportive approaches. This shifts the emphasis from 'experiencing something' to 'changing something'.

For many people, that is precisely where the added value lies. Not in the pursuit of a special experience, but in harnessing openness, emotional breakthroughs and new perspectives to bring about lasting improvements in behaviour, relationships and health.

Lifestyle and coaching as a practical application

A key distinguishing feature is that Triptherapie combines psychedelic support with lifestyle coaching. Mental growth and lasting behavioural change are supported by a focus on lifestyle, neurochemistry and integration.

As a result, the counselling does not get bogged down in abstract concepts. What is felt or observed during a session can be translated into practical steps relating to sleep, nutrition, exercise, stress management, relationships and everyday choices.

It is precisely this practical application that makes Triptherapie a bridge model. It is closer to coaching and personal development than to medical treatment, but it does take seriously many elements that will remain important in future psychedelic-assisted therapy.

What this tells us about the future

The future of psychedelic-assisted therapy is unlikely to revolve solely around the substances themselves, but will focus primarily on the quality of support, screening, preparation, professional ethics and integration. Dutch and scientific sources emphasise that caution, a structured approach and expertise are essential for responsible use.

In that light, Triptherapie is of interest as a pioneering practical approach. Not because it is a replacement for medical mental health care, but because it already utilises building blocks that are likely to remain crucial in future therapeutic models: a focus on the person behind the request for help, a careful process, and support that goes beyond the experience itself.

A human intermediate step

For people who are currently seeking support but do not wish to wait until all clinical applications are fully integrated into the healthcare system, Triptherapie offers a middle ground. No clinical treatment, no rigid protocols and no non-committal trip-setting either, but a personalised approach in which psychedelic sessions are combined with coaching, integration and personal development.

In this way, Triptherapie bridges the gap between what is already possible today and what is likely to be more widely recognised tomorrow: a form of support in which psychedelics do not stand alone, but form part of a wider process of insight, recovery and change.

Triptherapie Netherlands and its advantages

Many customers are already opting for Triptherapie Netherlands and we have summarised here the benefits that customers have identified as advantages:

Triptherapie advantages

Since 2018, we have been offering psychedelic sessions involving, amongst other things, magic truffles. This makes us among the pioneers in the Netherlands, well before the recent surge in popularity began. This underlines our intrinsic motivation and dedication to our work, even at a time when there was still little public attention on the subject.

To date, we have had the privilege of supporting more than 3,500 clients, primarily through therapeutic programmes. This extensive experience makes us one of the most experienced providers in the Netherlands. Our high levels of client satisfaction are evident from the many positive reviews on both our own platforms and external channels such as Google Maps.

Our team consists of carefully selected and internally trained therapists with diverse backgrounds and specialisms. This enables us to combine different therapeutic approaches and offer a bespoke service for every session. In addition, all our counsellors are trained in first aid and first aid for alcohol and drugs (EHBDD), which helps to ensure a safe environment.

Some of our therapists have undertaken further training through accredited training institutes such as RINO, focusing on therapeutic work with psychedelics. This brings added depth and professionalism to our team. The combination of formally trained therapists and experts with practical experience ensures balanced and effective support.

Thanks to our extensive experience, we are well equipped to facilitate sessions involving higher doses, where appropriate and safe to do so. Our ceremonies are deliberately kept small, with a maximum of six participants, to ensure there is sufficient personal attention and privacy, and to allow the therapeutic depth to be fully realised.

The venues where we work are specifically designed for psychedelic sessions. These feature calming art, single-level spaces, private rooms and the option to stay overnight. This helps to create a safe and comfortable setting.

As well as psilocybin (truffles), we also have experience with legal variants of other psychedelics, such as LSD analogues and MDMA-like substances. This broadens our expertise and enables us to better cater to a range of support needs.

We maintain active contact with GPs and psychiatrists and work under the supervision of a BIG-registered therapist. This provides an additional layer of professionalism and ensures the quality of our services.

Personal contact and a bespoke approach are at the heart of what we do. We provide tailored advice that focuses not only on the session itself, but also on improving overall mental and physical health.

In addition, as an organisation, we have played a prominent role in various Dutch and Flemish media productions focusing on psychedelic therapy, which has strengthened our visibility and authority within the field.

Finally, we offer a range of structured programmes for truffle ceremonies and psychedelic retreats, including comprehensive preparation and integration. This ensures comprehensive and responsible support before, during and after the experience.
